Fiber Optic Splicing Apprentice

A Junior (or apprentice-level) Splicing Technician is primarily responsible for supporting the Senior Splicing Technician perform job duties i.e.: fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair. The position also involves maintaining the crew truck, stocking, cleaning and following all paperwork test requirements. Splicing technician is also responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by providing street cones, working signs and overseeing the safety of anyone operating in or around the job site locations. Lastly, a Junior Splicing Technician must follow all customer requirements while working on any customer networks. Must be at least 18 years of age. Candidates must be able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions in English, as well as possess good oral communication skills. Splicing Technicians must be able to perform heavy physical labor, be able to discriminate between colors, and must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces. Must be at least 18 years of age. Candidates must be able to read, comprehend regulations and instructions in English, as well as possess good oral communication skills. Splicing Technician must be able to perform heavy physical labor, be able to discriminate between colors and must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces. A valid driver’s license is required. DOT physical and RMV driving record is also required. This is an outside position with exposure to all types of weather conditions. Extensive travel is required; may be away from home five days per week.  Must have own vehicle. The hours are Monday-Friday, weekends and night work as needed.
